Dawn Rivers, Owner of Daybreak Yoga LLC

At Daybreak Yoga, we practice Y.O.G.A in a safe, challenging, and loving way. We welcome and accept every BODY no matter who they are or what they’re facing in life. Daybreak Yoga is a nurturing sanctuary where meaningful, lasting inner healing and growth can take place. We may be next door to a gym or other yoga studio. But we’re miles away when it comes to our true mission. We’re not here to just help sculpt your abs. We’re here to help sculpt every aspect of your life.

No matter how large we grow, we always want to remain small and personal. Big and impersonal is our enemy. At Daybreak Yoga, we take the time to show people we genuinely care how they’re doing, that their presence is appreciated. We create an atmosphere where students can access what the Universe wants to share. We teach from a place of intuition that honors where people are and adjusts the practice toward what they need.

Finally, lest anyone think we take all this too seriously, we’re seriously committed to a light-hearted atmosphere and laughing our way through it all.

Name: Dawn Rivers

How did you get into this field?

Yoga saved my life. It helped me reconnect back to my essence. I was unhappy, had health issues, lots of stress, and depression. Once I started practicing yoga, I found myself. I learned what made me happy and I went after it. I needed to share this with others. This is from our Brand Elaborative and it speaks to why I got into teaching yoga:

Your Own Growing Awareness is Y.O.G.A. ™
This simple statement guides and separates us from our competition, especially the gym down the street. Or the yoga studio where all the flexible people go.

“Awareness” is a word packed full of meaning. Your awareness is your perception. And your perception shapes your reality – how you see, interpret, and interact with both your inner and outer worlds. When your awareness is growing, you’re learning. Consistent learning, in turn, leads to knowledge. And knowledge is the only thing that can ultimately remove ignorance – that darkness covering the light within each of our hearts. When we nurture a growing awareness in our students, we change their lives from the inside out. We are literally helping them to shine.

Awareness as a practice can take a myriad of forms:
Awareness of the present moment.
Awareness of thoughts, words, and deeds – how they affect everything in your life.
Awareness of strengths and challenges.
Awareness of others’ suffering.
And the list goes on.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I am committed to awakening the light within myself and others. I love training people to become yoga teachers. Helping others with mindset shifts through coaching, book discussions, and yoga retreats. Bringing people together and crossing over the boundaries of race, socio-economic status, and cultures to see our commonalities is extremely rewarding to me.

What is the most challenging part about your job?

The most challenging part of my job is explaining the value of the experiences is worth the investment.
