Chaundrea Simmons, Shea Vegan Culinary Services
Shea Vegan Culinary Services offers delicious, restaurant-quality vegan food to people in their own homes and private events.
Name: Chaundrea Simmons
How did you get into this field?
Shea was created as a pop-up series that brought four-course meals to various venues around Cleveland. While we still host pop ups around Cleveland, we expanded to include personal and private dining options.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part about creating scratch-made vegan food for people is being able to provide satisfaction to them. Seeing the looks of appreciation on the faces of my clients is a part of my job that I never tire of!
What is the most challenging part about your job?
The most challenging part is convincing more traditional eaters to try vegan food. While this can be challenging, when someone that isn’t used to eating vegan food enjoys what I’ve made for them, it is one of the most rewarding experiences for me!
Why did you decide to become a PCBC member?
After learning more about the program, I believed that it was a great opportunity for my business.
What challenges do you face as an African American business professional?
I would say my biggest challenge is learning when to turn my business off. Since I’m in food and beverage, my hours can be a bit hectic from time to time. It can be difficult to carve time out for myself and set boundaries that gives me personal time.
What are your goals for your business and how do you see PC being part of that process?
I plan to open a brick and mortar restaurant location in 2022. I see PC helping me to gain the knowledge needed for this process and help build my network.
What PC Buys Black business to business/consumer special are you offering members?
20% off all vegan private dining menus.
