Personnel Bio:

 

Nicholas Fedor, Executive Director

 

Nick has been the SHDC Executive Director since 2015. As Executive Director, he is the SHDC’s chief operating officer and a full time, salaried employee. During his tenure, the SHDC has grown from a volunteer organization to a fully functional community development corporation the serves and supports the City’s small business community as described above. Prior to joining SHDC, Nick served in leadership positions with the Detroit Shoreway Community Development in Cleveland, and with Washington Gateway Main Street in Boston, Massachusetts. A 2003 graduate of Kenyon College with a B.A., he is certified by the National Development Council as an Economic Development Finance Professional and is a resident of Shaker Heights.

 

 

Scott Garson is a graduate of Shaker Heights High School and Kenyon College and currently lives in Shaker Heights with his wife Ann of 30 years. They have two adult children who both attended and graduated from Shaker Schools.

Professionally, Scott spent 13 years in community development working for the Historic Warehouse District Development Corporation and Midtown Cleveland. He followed that by working for 23 years as a real estate broker focused on industrial and redevelopment opportunities within the City of Cleveland and inner ring suburbs. He also acted as a developer of Victory Center, a 165,000-sf historic building located in Cleveland’s Health Tech Corridor. He received a professional certificate from the National Development Council in Economic Development Finance. His professional affiliations include being a member of the Urban land Institute and the designation of being a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).

Scott has maintained active civic engagement throughout his professional career serving on a variety of non-profit boards including, Family Promise (formerly New Life Community), City of Shaker Heights Neighborhood Revitalization Committee, Midtown Cleveland Development Committee, and Board President of Cleveland Hillel Foundation. Scott is the immediate past Board Chair of the Shaker Heights Development Corporation, a position for which he served for six years. He has served on the Advisory Board of The Shaker Development Fund since its inception.

Scott currently serves as a Vice Chair of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Community Relations Committee. He also serves as the Founding Board Chair of Goods Bank NEO. A community resource center dedicated to stretching the impact of nonprofit organizations serving those in need by providing goods at nominal cost.
